This poem was written at the conclusion of the Gulf War, and compares experiences of Viet Nam to the Gulf.

Timetable

I watched with special interest
Our progress in the war
And worried daily about our troops
A wound which still is sore.

It's time it seems to climb upon
The wagon with the band.
No one I guess will spit on troops
Returning from the sand.

The job they did was brilliant
And heart they had a'plenty
I did the same some years ago
When I was only twenty.

I'm proud to see support at home
And I know where we went wrong.
When we fought and died in Viet Nam
We simply took too long.
